Massimo’s

image

I finally was able to see the inside of Massimo’s. It’s a big quaint house, the inside is rather old with lots of antique stuff, nice, homey. Id prefer to dine outside though. The prices were surprising (their menu outside said 2200 per two persons and it listed about 7-8 entrees).

Mommy really wanted their ice cream which is homemade – at 100 pesos per scoop. This is the restaurant nearest our place. The pistacchio was really delish, I had chocolate and it tasted like cocoa – nice pa din :)

The verdict? Id probably eat there – if someone would treat me :)

Matthew is an achiever again in school (got his report card last Saturday) and his Dad treated him out. He chose to eat at Teriyaki Boy and ordered his favorites wafu steak (masakit sa bulsa. LOL). Martha surprisingly ate this kiddie meal! I think she got attracted to the packagin – and she ate half of the chicken with rice (it was sweet) and gave the tempura to her Kuya. The chocolate pudding is mine :)

Ang sarap iuwi ng plate and tray. Inalok ni Edil bilhin actually. Enjoy na enjoy si Martha :)

Now, this is a genius idea better than the dollar store franchise!

I saw this over at Chuvaness’ blog and my eyes grew wide when I saw the shop was “Soap Factory”

Now this will be a great home decor and a nice motivation to help my kids scrub their dirtied bodies longer. My kids are big lovers of donuts so the variety of soap will be a sure hit in our house.

I need my Fix.

My Starbucks fix. I cannot wait to go to Manila this Friday for some alone time again. I havent talked to my Mom yet but I hope she agrees to babysit the kids for the whole day. I might bring G. I think I will that day on a coffee shop. Where is there free wi-fi without too much people, has nice ambiance?

I need cake too.
Gah, I cant wait until Friday.

Gifts for the MDs

I think I’ll stick to Grey’s, ER and House to get my daily dose of doctor fix (I have a thing for men in white in a clinical setting - I think it comes with my own frustration of not being able to get into medical school).

I think I haven’t blogged about it before, but my husband works for a pharmaceutical company and would often deal with doctors to push their medicines (Yep, he sells drugs). This involves more than the usual courtesy call at their clinic, since some doctors think they deserve more than free samples of the products to recommend quality and affordable medicines to their patients (Can you feel my sarcasm drippping in droplets?) Believe me, I have some horror stories to tell.

One doctor wanted champagne gift baskets to give away for Christmas to his relatives, so the husband obliged. From getting a free dinner, a sponsorhip to a medical convention, or even asking flat out for a flat screen TV with DVD player, doctors have asked for it. But the most asked for item are champagne gift baskets. These are nice gifts to receive and send everybody to - relatives, officemates, employers (or someone superior), and people who generally do not need anymore stuff.

The Toast of California wine basket is the most popular and requested among all the champagne gift baskets and champagne gifts Edil has even given. It is composed of two premium wines from the wine region outside of San Francisco (Lodi) and gourmet delicacies that complement the wine taste. Chardonnay is included as well - which is the only wine that I remember because this was what we had during our wedding day :) I personally like the Champagne and Chocolate offer :). I always choose the Dom Perignon.

Ambiance in Dining

My father used to joke about me wanting to dine in place with “ambiance”. If you want to talk to me endlessly, it better be in a place where there is good food and good ambiance ~ no smoking, not hot, nice lights, quiet or with good (quiet or soothing) music.

When I brought Glo to Sonya’s last year, aside from the great food, she was so busy looking at all the details like the mismatching but utterly perfect for each other table linens and antique cabinets. We also were looking up all the time inspecting the chandeliers - they were all glass, handmade with different beads and in different colors. When you look at them, you are sure to know that they were personalized and cant be seen anywhere else.

I wished I couldve taken her to Cliffhouse though. She would have liked dining at Bion Gourno! Their ceiling fans are I bet, casablanca fans. The ceiling fans alone are such a standout for classic design and even a topic for conversation. It really is an accent to the restaurant! While modern ceiling fans are also nice, the casablanca fans are a perfect fit for the “ambiance” that Bion Gourno! just wants to impart ;)

Hap Chan

Whenever I crave for siomai (steamed pork dumplings), only one place comes to mind: Hap Chan!

Steamed Pork Dumplings Siomai

Hap Chan is our to-go to when we want to have a food trip. Everything is paired with Yang Chao rice and we are full!

A special mention should go to their Milk Tea, I so love it :) A few of the many things I order there (without fail) are: Ha Kaw (Steamed Shrimp Dumplings) and Shark Fin Dumplings.

Aristocrat

One of the things that made me happy when SM San Lazaro opened its doors was finding out Aristocrat has opened a new restaurant there as well! I just love their chicken barbecue, their trademark food!

For me, Aristocrat’s chicken BBQ, paired with java rice (whole grain rice blended with special tomato-based mixture and ground meat), is the best.

I so love going to their main restaurant in Roxas Boulevard and now with them being so near, I can get my fix as much (and as often) as I want to :)

Provided Id be going to Manila!
