Cleaning the Kitchen Thoroughly
Would it be enough for us to swipe and disinfect kitchen tiles every time we cook and before we close our kitchen for the day? I routinely check our gas tubings for leaks and gas tank for potential breakages but that is all. I have never thought of making sure our ventilation is clean. Kitchen vents are a great potential source of fire at home and in potential establishments. These should be cleaned regularly.
The two typed of air vents you see in the average kitchen are duct vents and over-the-range hood vents. The duct vents circulate the air in the kitchen via the central air conditioning and heating system. Range hood vents do their job to remove grease, steam and unpleasant odors from the kitchen. These are what you usually over our ovens and gas ranges. These kitchen vents can become coated with grease and dirt over a few months’ time.
Kitchen Cleaning should involve cleaning those air vents too – and while you can clean it yourself if you know how, it would be wiser and more practical to hire a specialised company to clean it for you. HML (Hygiene Maintenance Limited) can do it for you – ductwork cleaning work is guaranteed and carried out as recommended in HVCA TR/19 (internal cleanliness in ventilation systems) – and they even photograph clean reports (since you cannot see inside the vent!).
