Mini-Mental Health Break
I have been a little quiet for a while now. If you know me too well, when I get quiet from my usual self, something is stressing me out. I am not the type of person who needs to talk about it – I prefer to keep things to myself, analyze and overanalyze things and like to solve things by my lonesome. When it is over and dealt with, that’s when I talk about it. My friends tell me I tell them about it but don’t necessarily expect help which makes them feel useless – but that is not what I need. I just need a sounding board to keep me from having too much mental stress.
Not that there are big problems don’t get me wrong. Each year at this month I always gets depressed for some reason because it makes me realize how much I haven’t done the things I’d like to do. So I know I really need to relax and pamper myself.
It has been months since I got a massage! Years since I went to a spa! I miss working out and hanging out in the steam room and cooling in a sauna (yes, ironic isn’t it?) after! I used to tell people I lost weight not because of working out, but because of hanging out in the sauna. It helps you lose pounds, sheds off excess water and flushes out toxins from your body. Recently, I heard infrared saunas are better! You can burn as many as 300-600 calories per session – more than one hour walking on the treadmill, even if it just all water! (Remember to keep yourself hydrated before going in though). Aside from helping you lose weight, saunas help in detoxification, skin purification (whenever I step out from the sauna, my skin is a little bit clearer due to the detoxification), pain and arthritis relief and improve blood circulation.
I plan to treat myself to a spa when the madness of June (and school) is over. Let’s hope it happens sooner!
