Diabetes – a Debilitating Disease

We have a history of diabetes in our family. My maternal grandmother has it, and since she was 60 years old, needed insulin to control her disease. My father was diagnosed almost four years ago, and since then has been advised to be on a strict regulated diet. He also needs to have his HBa1C checked every three months (It’s a more accurate way to tell if your blood sugar is high. I hope he gets to really control eating too much rice and sweets because I don’t want him to need insulin later on when he gets older.

Diabetes can really be debilitating. It doesnt help that getting insurance will be harder for people afflicted with it. The American Diabetes Association has noted that insurance companies are more lenient with issuing insurance policies for diabetics who are healthier and has shown discipline and determination to control the disease. This means they have consistent controlled blood sugar levels and other indicators show normal results.  Diabetic Life Insurance seems also to be more tolerant towards the Type 2 Diabetes as this can be controlled by rigorous diet and exercise while the Type 1 Diabetes will need lifelong dependence to insulin.

I’m a candidate for it so I better start becoming healthy.
